Ylva Carlgren's painting explores the limits of the conceivable. It allows us to momentarily lose our balance in our habitual search for familiar forms and given interpretations. Before we find it again, we may have had time to remember something of the time before every thing had a definite meaning. Perhaps we also get an idea of what it is like to let what we have learned to recognize return to the same contourless state. The gaze opens and light streams in – it closes and we are surrounded by darkness.
