As colleagues and close friends of Oscar Guermouche meet Magnus Bärtås, Leif Holmstrand and Sandra Praun around his work for an in-depth conversation about the artistry. The audience is warmly invited to participate actively.

Oscar Guermouche (one-2024) was an artist, born in Stockholm and later living on Öland. He was educated at the Department of Art at Konstfack in Stockholm (MFA 2009).

In his practice, Guermouche started from language as a carrier of identities. He focused on connections between text and body, including questions of self-image, biography and memory. With a background in North Africa, but born in Sweden, nationality, home and the image of threat also became prominent components in several of his works; he used, for example, Swedish flags, Vilhelm Moberg's emigrant series and Ikea's Billy bookcase.

Guermouche's work has been exhibited at, among others, the Nationalmuseum and Magasin III in Stockholm, Gothenburg's Konsthall, the National Centre for Contemporary Art in Moscow, Kunsthalle Rostock and Sleepwalker Projects in Toronto. In 2020, he co-founded the art book publisher Praun & Guermouche, whose publications are represented in collections such as the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Alexandria, Columbia University Libraries in New York, the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles, the Kaminoge Library in Tokyo and The Women's Library in Sydney. He was also a recurring lecturer and guest teacher at, among others, the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts and the Valand Academy, as well as a guest lecturer at Konstfack. He was also responsible for the exchange program Art and Industry at Vandalorum in Småland.

Magnus Bärtås is an artist, writer, filmmaker and often works with microhistorical material – stories, embroidery, images and traces. He is a professor and heads the research at Konstfack.

Leif Holmstrand is a writer, artist and musician, and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts. She works with gender, body, perception and grief in as physical a way as possible.

Sandra Praun is a graphic designer with a focus on book design. She continues to run the art book publisher Praun & Guermouche.
