I am interested in the language between figurative painting and abstraction, where content changes radically in terms of positioning, different groupings in composition and the spontaneous expression that arises in a fast process versus the slowness of building. The beach is a strip between two principles. Most people approach life as a game on the beach, in a certain freedom and norm dissolution, we discern an end. 

Pontus Raud

In the exhibition Sketches from the beach The result of a multi-year project of oil pastel paintings on paper from a beach on the West Coast is shown.

Pontus Raud, born in 1962 in Uppsala and active in Stockholm, received his Master's degree from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm in 1998 and has previously studied at St. Martin's College of Fine Art in London in 1997, Valand Academy of Fine Arts in Gothenburg in 1993 and at the Idun Lovén Art School 1991–93. He has participated in several exhibitions both in Sweden and internationally.

Pontus Raud is the initiator of the Supermarket Independent Art Fair and has been the artistic director of the fair since 2006, which takes place annually in Stockholm.
