Info

Phantom Heart – the imaginary heart. The word fantom derived from the Greek word phantasma which was used to describe ghosts and illusions as well as visions and dreams. In the Swedish language we use it today perhaps mainly in compounds such as phantom pain or phantom image. As notions or imaginations about the latter.

In her work with sculpture, Stina Persson often moves towards the interior of the sculpture based on the idea that these figurative things contain a kind of spirituality or space to enter.

A few existing sculptures form the basis for the exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts and Stina Persson's continued attempts to move into the sculpture. The hands and the sometimes open and closed eyes in interaction that feel their way forward and think the form from the inside out. Fingers that dig, press and create cavities that are then filled, in search of the core of the sculpture.

In the exhibition room, the search returns in various forms and becomes possible entrances or portals to inner spaces and gazes.
