Katja Syrjä talks about the exhibition, the working process behind the works and the themes that recur in her art – the meeting between art and science, natural materials and pigments, and female artists and researchers as a source of inspiration.

In the conversation, the audience will also encounter some of the materials behind the works. Using gum arabic, madder root, handmade paper made from pitcher vines and the caterpillar skin of the nettle butterfly, Katja talks about how materials can carry meanings and messages, based on two works in the exhibition: Pitcher plants (Nepenthes) and Urtica dioica (Stinging nettle).
