Info

During his era, humans have exterminated several modern species from the earth. My idea is to sculpt about fifteen endangered animals and build an ark that they can climb into to be saved on earth. The exhibition will be called “Hanna’s Ark” and will tell the story of the death of species in the human era.

The ark becomes their new home and they sail away towards new goals. The fact that we have eradicated several tree species that animals live in means that these animals have no home. My idea is to delve into the endangered animals such as elephant, panda and gorilla etc. I build the animals' home, the ark, in wood. The koala and the sloth are also interesting as their habitat, the forest, is gradually disappearing due to deforestation and forest fires.

A total of 46 species of very large land animals weighing 1000 kg or more disappeared from the face of the earth in the last 50000 years. It was enough for each human group to hunt and kill one gigantic animal every six months for them to become extinct, as they reproduced so slowly. In Europe, North America, South America, Australia, and northern Asia, there was almost no living creature. Only in Africa and southern Asia did smaller remnants of the megafauna manage to survive, among them the modern elephants and rhinoceroses. Humans have been largely responsible for the mass extinction. Even the frog, which is threatened with extinction due to a fungal disease, will be on “Hannah’s Ark”.

With this exhibition I want to take you on a journey and investigation of how Flora and Fauna have been influenced by humans throughout history. The animal sculptures vary in size and several of them are cast in pigmented silicone or acrylic. I hope they enjoy and get along well at Arken.
