The Everyday Holds the Broken

Exhibition The Everyday Holds the Broken is being carried out as part of the Bernadotte Scholarship. The exhibition shows both new and previous works, where paintings, drawings and sculptural objects oscillate between intimacy, the mechanical gaze and the presence of the viewer.

Laleh Kazemi Veisari, born in 1983 in Stockholm, received her master's degree from Konstfack in the spring of 2019. She previously holds a master's degree in political science from the University of Gothenburg and a bachelor's degree in economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Laleh Kazemi Veisari was awarded the Bernadotte Scholarship for her project The relationship between drawing and painting through Walter Benjamin's historical and philosophical theses (Über den Begriff der Geschichte)In the project, she seeks dialogue with philosophy, the history of ideas and natural science to shed new light on painting and drawing, but also on the living conditions of the earth and society.

The justification stated, among other things: "In addition to Laleh Kazemi Veisari's emerging, vibrant artistry, the project's interdisciplinary research appears valuable - not least in light of the fellow's previous studies in other fields. The project enriches the conversation between the academies and benefits the art world, drawing and painting."
