Info

“Using various media and physical elements, Anders Rönnlund invites the viewer to think of the world as a mutually dependent system of nature, history and human actions. The works offer space for reflection on life, transience and our place in the environment. For Anders, art itself is a way of understanding reality and confronting its many dimensions.”

Tomasz Matuszak, Artist, Associate Professor, Art Academy of Lodz, Poland

Anders Ronnlunds Since the 1980s, his work has revolved around installation, sculpture, sound, movement and interaction. Environmental issues and political events have been a recurring driving force in his artistic work.

Since the first large installation in the disused factory premises of Ekeby Bruk in 1985, he has developed a personal visual language where mechanics, water, sound and rhythm interact with sculptural forms. In the exhibition Oppression summarizes several of the central expressions of his artistry – a journey through spaces characterized by reflection, interaction and a changing world.

Rönnlund has had solo exhibitions at Upplands Konstmuseum, Uppsala Konstmuseum and Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (MAC) in Santiago de Chile, among others, and has exhibited in Europe, Asia and Latin America. His works are represented in public collections, including the Swedish National Arts Council, regions and municipalities.

Jan Håfström wrote about his art in Dagens Nyheter: »What Anders Rönnlund has achieved is something as unusual and refined as a physical thought.«
