SCHOLARSHIP
Interdisciplinary scholarship with mentor-supported deepening and development opportunities for researchers and younger artistic practitioners within five different academies' areas of interest.
The Academy of Arts, the Academy of Music, the Academy of Wits, the Swedish Academy and the Gustav Adolfs Academy for Swedish Folk Culture have had a joint scholarship program since 2016 with the aim of deepening the collaboration of the academies through cross-academy work for the benefit of researchers and younger artistic practitioners.
The form of collaboration, which has been named the Bernadotte program, will offer an opportunity for academic deepening after completing artistic university education at master's level, doctoral level or postdoctoral level. The deepening is supposed to be able to be carried out in a defined project form during one year.
A basic idea is that each project should in some form reflect on at least two of the cooperating academies' areas of competence - for example in meetings between arts and forms of knowledge - and thereby both utilize the academies' different capacities and contribute to interdisciplinary development.
The Art Academy's scholarship holder in the Bernadotte program receives a stipend of SEK 125, receives mentor support in a chosen area of interest and also has a studio at Fredsgatan 000 during the scholarship year (September – August ). After one year, each fellow must report his research work in a form that is agreed upon.
The scholarship holders of the various academies within the Bernadotte program form a joint network for exchanges during the scholarship year. A sub-goal is that through the program each scholarship recipient should have been able to expand their academic network outside their own area of expertise and through their scholarship work given the opportunity to also contribute their own acquired knowledge to this expanded network.
The Bernadotte Prize
The award is part of the Bernadotte program and is to be awarded annually to a researcher, artist, organization or institution that over a long period of time has contributed to public education or social development in the field of culture, cultural heritage, art and aesthetics. > Read more
